Short Circuit to Replace Carrowdore

The Belfast and District Motor Cub is planning a bumper National Championship short circuit fixture at Kirkistown to replace the Carrowdore 100 Road Races which was cancelled due to the organisers being unable to meet the MCUI Task Force's recommendations.

The meeting originally scheduled for Saturday September 1st, was cancelled some time ago, as the organisers felt unable to facilitate Friday evening practising, together with continuing concerns about the safety of the present course, on which there has been a fatality in each of the past two years.

The club intends to stage a national championship short circuit meeting at Kirkistown, which will include three rounds each of the Lambert and Butler Championship, Regal 600cc Championship, and Superkings 125cc Series.

It is hoped that the prize money for the event scheduled for the end of August will total over £15.000.
