Decision expected over TT 2002

David CretneyThe Council of Ministers was set to discuss plans for TT 2002 this week. Tourism and Leisure Minister David Cretney wanted to get the go-ahead for the event at today's meeting. He believes a quick decision is important - the marketing of it is due to start at a motorbike show at the NEC in Birmingham in November. The TT was cancelled earlier this year due to the threat of foot-and-mouth, and tourism bosses are keen to make sure that the same thing won't happen again next year. Meanwhile, Mr Cretney has not had a reply back from the British Superbike Championship organisers about the possible date clash with TT 2002 following a recent meeting. He said: 'We will have to wait and see what happens.
