oldies on here - pykey08 - 27-08-2012

it seems with all the social networking sites the regulars on here seem to go elsewhere can we have a roll call malcolm please?

RE: oldies on here - Malcolm - 27-08-2012

Hi Pykey,

No surprise that the site is quiet these days, as the number of Social Network sites that have sprung up over the past few years has most obviously taken a lot of the traffic away from not only this site, but also others.

I keep the site going as it maintains my interest and keeps me involved with things, whilst appreciating that it does not have the same popularity that it once had. I still receive daily Press Releases and numerous news items on different aspects of the sport, so see no reason why I should not carry on making postings of those items onto the site, to keep people informed, as these are not issued to the general public and do not appear on the Social Network sites that I have previously referred to. (Unless someone does a cut and paste job, as I have noticed happening ever more frequently, which by the way is not entirely legal).

At some point I am sure that I will get tired of my daily requirement of uploading news items etc and at that point consider closing the site down and thereafter leave it to some other enthusiastic individual to take up the task.

Whatever happens I shall retain the domain names that I have related to the TT and the sport in general, unless of course someone comes along and offers me lots of money for them, which would enable me to retire and sit back and enjoy my life of leisure.

Meanwhile, keep on visiting the site Pykey and you never know, you may just read something on here that no other website has any insight into.

Malcolm

RE: oldies on here - beepee - 02-09-2012

Now ,what exactly is meant by 'oldies on here' if it is long standing members then I probably don't qualify but if it means old farts then I do !.

I would say that this site is inhabited by older more experienced people who really don't see the point of being argumentative for the sake of it therefore we don't get many responses to posts although we are all interested to read others points of view.

Purely out of interest would subscribers have been happy to have paid out to visit the Island for the classic races as the DED wanted the MGP to become.

Fortunately I live on the Island but although the 'classics 'are by far and away my favourites, as a race meeting I don,
't think they would have been that successful as a visitor attraction and may have led to the entire meeting being scrapped........or was that the plan anyway?
