Manx Grand Prix Stalwart Receives MBE - Malcolm - 29-12-2012

Wynn Evans the Competitors Welfare Officer for the Manx Grand Prix has been awarded an MBE in the Queens New Years Honours List.

Wynn for over Thirty years has been the main contact between the race organisers and relatives of riders who are injured whilst racing on the Isle of Man.

Mrs Evans has for a number of years been and still is the ACU Benevolent Fund Officer.

Manx Motorcycle Club Chairman Harvey Garton said on hearing the news - As organisers of the Manx Grand Prix, we are absolutely delighted that Wyns service to injured riders and their families has been recognised in such a way.

She is an unsung hero to many and is well respected throughout the whole motorcycling community for her endless devotion to the welfare of all concerned with motorcycle racing on the Island and further afield.


Wyn along with her husband Des have been involved with the Manx Grand Prix, Southern 100 and TT Races for many years, Des having for many years been Chief Traveling Marshal for all three events.

Thoroughly deserved. Very few will put in more work into our sport than Wyn and Des. Congratulations Wyn.
