TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Sam Pato - 19-05-2016

To extend the predictions and assuming good conditions.

Who do we reckon will end up with the fastest lap on the big bikes and where will it be?

I reckon we'll see Hutchy take it and that it'll be around 133.2mph

Anyone else?

Sam

Last year I predicted correctly Sam but this year, hmmmm. Not sure.

Hi Jan - hope you are well

Really stuck you neck out there I see.   You can only rest on your laurels for so long you know Icon_lol .

Best regards

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Alfie Noakes - 19-05-2016

The thing with the officiai race lap record is there's only 2 flying laps which are the last laps in each race, I think the Superstock lap will increase but no increase in the Superbike / Senior.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - DBD 34 - 19-05-2016

Lap records are more often than not set on first lap rather than the last "flying lap" especially by JM.
By the time they are on the last lap most races are settled and so the pace can drop slightly.

I think though that (weather permitting) we will have a 133 club of MD, JM.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Alfie Noakes - 19-05-2016

Possibly and there's the benefit of clear road but as the speeds increase the time "lost" from a standing start is very very hard to get back and then improve on, a flying lap see's the big bikes starting the lap on a well settled bike at 170+mph, the first lap is started afresh at zero mph.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - L1v32R1d3 - 26-05-2016

Seeing that Bruce has a new ride, I think if the bike performs as they say it will (and he gets out of bed on the right side) he could put in a 133+ lap. I agree with Hutchy having the potential to do around 133 as well, but I think Bruce will set the fastest speed this year.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Sam Pato - 26-05-2016

The prospect of Bruce on this exotic GP bike is great news for the TT.  That said I can't think of many instances in recent times when exotica has won out over the tried and tested.  Maybe the RVF's that Hizzy, and co had?

The footage I saw of Bruce on his lap record lap last year was not the smooth and precise style we've come to expect - I just hope he has a safe ride and doesn't try too hard TBH.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - L1v32R1d3 - 26-05-2016

I hear ya. There's a whole lot of talk about Bruce's new bike and it's potential. If he's on the pace like he was last year, maybe he can pull it out. As you said, the bike is not proven yet. I am sure they will have tons of kinks to work out during practice week. The odds of the team getting the bike into "top" form in one weeks time are probably slim.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - SILJA - 26-05-2016

My prediction is that we will see the first lap ever under 17 minutes. Current record time is 17.03.567. Average speed: 132.701 m.p.h. or 213,56 km/h. I believe that the weather conditions are important. Nice weather at the Superbike race on Saturday or at the Senior TT on Friday will give a new fantastic record...

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - scaramanga - 26-05-2016

3.5 seconds faster is doable but its also a lot
but if were going by the teams talk surely the norton will be untouchable and lap around 16 minutes 45 seconds

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Sam Pato - 31-05-2016

The way its shaping up and with the forecast for dry weather I'm wondering if we'll see the top men under 17 minutes in Thursday evening practice.

Just hope everyone keeps to the right side of the ragged edge......

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - BcakWeleher - 31-05-2016

Yes let's hope all have a safe ride, and I agree that if the weather holds will a full complement of practise I reckon we'll see records again they way they have started out.

As said above we don't get many flying laps but there are quite a lot of flying laps from GH to GH or Ram to Ram. Has anybody bothered to work those out at all (I am not volunteering although all the data is out there somewhere! Just wondered if there is a 'faster' lap out there although of course it would not be a record.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Jan Grainger - 01-06-2016

I reckon you're right, records will be broken but I hope everyone has a safe TT. I'm getting nervous thinking about it. Hi Sam Pato, I am fine despite being stuck here in Australia. Thank goodness for Manx Radio and Malcolm for this forum.

More changes to the course as well this year which should speed things up a bit.

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Alfie Noakes - 03-06-2016

Stocker ahead at the moment, have been thinking for a while that a little less stiff/more feedback bike will consistently result in more speed whereas you often hear that they "can't quite get the Superbike right", there's also less to "fiddle around" electronic and suspension wise and less to get your head around with a Superstock .. is this where the Superbikes nudge late 133's tomorrow though ?

RE: TT 2016 Fastest Lap - Big bikes - Sam Pato - 04-06-2016

Given the stellar practice week I don't think there's any doubt we'll see 17mins broken in the F1.  It'll go on the first lap.

Clearly MD and Hutchy are on it but just how much has Bruce (and some others) been sandbagging?

Exciting stuff.  Fingers crossed for a safe race.

I reckon 133.4 will be the the new lap record by this time next week, and will be with either Hutchy or MD.
