With the recent news that Radcliffe Racing has signed, talented rider Jamie Coward on a two-year deal, the Castletown based team has confirmed that they will be racing at their ‘home’ event, the Steam Packet Southern 100 International Road Races in July on board the BMW S1000RR and Honda CBR600 machines.

Team principle, Chris Lennon said:

‘The Southern 100 is my home event and my favourite event of the road racing year and with Jamie in the seat we have a very good opportunity to take our first road race victory at ‘the friendly’ races.

‘Jamie has had eight podium finishes in the last few years at the July meeting including a third and a second this year (2016) so hopefully he will achieve the top step before too long.

‘All being well, Jamie will have a ‘warm-up’ ride on the Billown Course at the Post-TT Road Races, which is sponsored by Radcliffe Butchers.’

Delighted with the news that the popular Yorkshireman will once again be lining up on the grid on the Castletown By-Pass, Race Secretary, George Peach said:

‘The Club is looking forward to seeing Jamie racing again at the Southern 100 next year, after his top-three places in the last couple of years, it can’t be long before he takes his ‘maiden’ victory at the International meeting.

George continued:

‘Jamie is of course no stranger to receiving the winner’s laurel wreaths having won five races so far in the Pre-TT Classic Road Races - three last year and two in 2015.’

Jamie Coward commented:

‘I am excited and looking forward to racing at the Southern 100 again in July and very happy to be on the Radcliffe Racing machines at their ‘home races’.

‘The Billown Course is one of my favourites and I enjoy the challenge it provides along with the friendly nature of the event.’

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Southern 100 International Road Races take place in 2017 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10th, 11th, 12th & 13th July.
