That seems to be a rather large increase in cost for a bike and rider !!

I can only assume that last year you got a 5 day return as the published price for 2018 would have been £270

As for your Norway trip (hope you had a great time) I'm guessing that was an off peak cheapy and not during the main tourist season

I stand corrected last year I paid 252 for my normal 10 day crossing so still a £30 increase.
And ya Norway is bike paradise. We crossed Hirtshals to kristiansand going and Oslo to Kiel on the way home. 4 adults 2 bikes come in less then £400 pair couple. Beginning of September

Just paid it altogether £558 I've been going to the TT since 1962 and to be honest it's getting to expensive it's getting dearer every year they are getting to greedy seems like the bikers are an easy touch! Mine is for a car and 2passengers

I dont think 4.4% is too bad obviously i wish it was less but all things take a annual hike these days. i Have budgeted appx £1750 for our 10 day stay this includes all travel - camp fees - fuel - food - etc etc, which at £175 per day i consider reasonable value. However factor in the whole TT Experience and it is priceless.

Just under £25 in 1962 would be the equivalent £558 in todays value due to inflation

Look on the bright side it's free to watch the racing!

RE: 2019 TT ferry invoice - taxman - 26-02-2019

IOM Government regulate the fares and always have done. A like for like booking will be more expensive as the fares were increased by RPI/CPI inflation.

The company are operating in the same way as most other travel operators. They have lower fares on unpopular dates and sailings. Try flying to Dublin for example when there's a 6 Nations rugby game on and you'll see what I mean.

IOM Government now own the business however they need it to operate in its current form for a few years to recover the purchase costs. After that, who knows. They're talking about possible new vessels and once again those will cost. Hopefully, they'll do something sensible with the fare structure to make it easier for visitors, however in the short term it appears that little is likely to change.

RE: 2019 TT ferry invoice - AntG - 27-02-2019

I'm going as a foot passenger and it's £112, which is the same as last year.
