Re-introduction of early morning practice - thewitch - 01-12-2006

Ha! That got you looking!
Well, so many of you have bemoaned the demise of the early morning practice, that TTwebsite has decided to re-introduce it...for one morning only at the 2007 TT.
A coach will leave from the Grandstand at 6am..a bit late for some, perhaps...and proceed slowly, with frequent stops and constant commentary from an on-board TT winner and his MGP sidekick...more details later on these priceless celebs...
Breakfast will be served at the Sulby Glen, and the trip will continue all the way round the course, ending with lunch.
All profits will go to charity, and there will probably be onboard raffles, auctions and other fundraising stunts.
The date and price have not yet been fixed, but get your name down now (no obligation at this stage)..pm me... and I will let you know as arrangements are made.

Count me in............ if I'm there

Have replied by PM!

Geat idea.
As one who raised the commentary idea, I am gratified to see a good response. I hope we can park safely at the grandstand somewhere?
If its practice week, should be fine.

I wonder who you have in mind for comentary?
Please make sure we can understand or provide sub titles!

;-)

Good luck with organising,

MV

I'll be going for sure Big Grin

Milky for commentary?

- MV - 04-12-2006

I know its a long way off, but I would have expected a better response to this great idea!
For those who havent joined in a TTWebsite "DO" please give it some thought.
Malcolm and Helen did a super job at last years gathering and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
The proposal that Helen has put forward is guaranteed to be a "hoot" and something to be remembered.
I am sure that there will be some suprises along the way, too!
So, come on!
Get your names down.

- thewitch - 04-12-2006

Some people have pm'd their names to me and been added to the list, but it would be good to know who and how many, soon.
As time goes by I will be adding more info...the commentators, the stops...Breakfast at Rosie's of course...here will be auctions, raffles and perhaps a quiz??
Give me your ideas for how a day out can be made really special for you, and raise money for charity at the same time.

- charlie hulse - 04-12-2006

A great idea Helen, count me in 8)....

....but I wonder how many will have to stay up all night for a 6am start   Lol

- thewitch - 04-12-2006

You're in, boy..maybe we should have a TTwebsite night out the ight before.Uh...maybe not...

- thewitch - 04-12-2006

Well, now there's 11 of us so far, and it's only December.
Now here's the first bit of news...the commentating team is..................Nick Jefferies and Cargo .... more Morecambe and Wise than Richard and Judy, I think...
More news as it happens.

- Michael - 04-12-2006

I don't know why you all are so great fans from early morning practice? I for myself are still in my tent in the early morning. I be there for the TT but also for holidays and after a long evening at the Dhoon with a lot of fire and a little bit beer I'm happy to sleep long.

Michael

- thewitch - 04-12-2006

We'll have to come round to the campsite and wake you!

- Michael - 05-12-2006

But the campsite is not by the mountain course!

- larryd - 05-12-2006

If it's practice week, count us in!!

- thewitch - 05-12-2006

Never fear, Michael, we will make a detour to Gruseleck!

- MV - 05-12-2006

Great stuff Helen!
The commentary team is perfect.
Nick has alot of experience and no doubt good tales to tell.
...and what a family pedigree.
We all know of his eloquence having experienced it on this very Website.
As for Cargo?
Well, I only met him at this years "bash" and that was enough.
Er, sorry Cargo! I mean that was enough to know waht he can bring to the party.
Our discussion over Buzz Lightyear kept me cuckling and grinning, long after.

Cargo might get a rep on this one

I am in - ian huntly - 05-12-2006

Put me down.......

I used to love the early morning practices and have some great memories......

It was a lovely hour to get up and see the dawn break..especially after a session at either the Texas Bar or later the Round Bar..

Wonderful that we can try to re-run a session even though it is on a bus !!!

- MV - 06-12-2006

Well done Ian.
I knew we could rely on you.
I think we all have happy memories of morning practices.
For me, it was the way we could get so close to our heroes.
Tell people now that you could wait in pit lane for the riders to return and they think you are mad!
Actually, to me, a big part of morning pratcice was, "thank goodness thats over, now wheres me breakfast?" Seriously, it was a mixture of stuff.
I am hoping that the bus idea will bring us together as a special group to help celebrate the Centenary in a rather special way.

It all depends on the angle from which you view it, Ian & Mike.

My principal memories of morning practice, more particularly at the Manx, are firstly bloody cold hands and as I went up the Mountain wishing that Peel Fairings did a Mountain Mile fairing to fit a Yamaha :!:

The other, which only happened once in June, was riding "over the top" on a cloudless, sunny, calm morning at about 7.00 am - absolutely glorious :!: :!:

Just thinking about it Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

up on the mountain - ian huntly - 06-12-2006

Yes, during our lap we must stop up between the 33rd and Keppel (Clarks Corner) and see the sunrise..........Oh what a glorious thing to see (If there is no mist !!)

Pity Creg ny Baa couldn't arrange a practice breakfast for us as well !!
