Getting across to Ireland - MV - 10-03-2007

Right its time for a TT "veteran" to really show his ignorance about
Irish racing.
I have got it in my head recently to get over the Irish Sea to watch some
road racing In Ireland , this year.
I had a look at the calendar and see that Cookstown is upcoming soon.
I dont know if its feasible to get there in my day van at such short notice?

My knowledge of ferries other that the IOM is very thin.
I cant start to work out how I can get over from the depths of hampshire.

Any advice would be grarefully recieved

you could always fly into the Belfast City airport from Southampton (Flybe) on the Friday am.... try and organise a lift from there to the circuit or alternatively fly to the International airport with easyjet. its less of a trip to Cookstown....I'd forget the van...time you take with ferries and fuel, you'd best fly and hire a car - take a sleeping bag and kip in the car.

I'd help you out personally but I'll have to miss out on Cookstown this year cos I'm one of the riders who'll be tearing up the road from Lands End to John O Groats that weekend to raise some dosh for the MGP Helo and Rob Vine fund :?

Mike i travel rail & sail from my local station to Holyhead for Southern meetings and use Irish Ferries to Dublin then bus or train but getting to the north meetings i have only been to the Ulster once and we sent to Stranrar maybe flying is your best bet? good luck.

Hey Mike - have you considered either Skerries or Kells?, both are very handy from Holyhead/Birkenhead/Liverpool ferries

NO, not YET!

I guess my biggest problem is living so far south.
But, I will give it some thought

Cheers.
