DoTL head for The Carole Nash NEC Bike Show 2008 to promote Isle of Man Motorsport - Malcolm - 07-11-2008

- Getty Images Exhibition curated by Murray Walker transfers to Birmingham.

- TT Stars to appear at dedicated TT Day on main public Saturday.


The Department of Tourism and Leisure is heading to The Carole Nash NEC Bike Show 2008 in Birmingham in November and December to promote The Isle of Man to Motorsport fans. The DTL will be in the main hall and will be sharing a stand with Duke Marketing. The TT Marshals Association will also be represented on the stand throughout the duration as they look to promote the chance to marshal at the TT and Manx Grand Prix.

The show will also see the appearance of the Getty Images Exhibition, curated by Murray Walker, celebrating 100 years of road racing on the Island. The space for the exhibition has been provided free by the organisers MCI Exhibitions.

Finlay McAllan, MD of event organisers MCI Exhibitions commented:

“We’re delighted to get the chance to host such a prestigious collection and I’m sure bike fans are going to be really interested in the pictures as there are some stunning shots.”

The Department of Tourism and Leisure will be hosting a press event on Thursday 27th November and the Minister, Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, will be making a number of major announcements about the TT including some of the team and rider line-ups for TT2009.

The show will also see the return of the hugely popular ‘TT Day’ on Saturday 6th December. Riders including John McGuinness, Steve Plater, Bruce Anstey, Conor Cummins, Tim Reeves and Guy Martin will be appearing on the Blackhorse Main Stage for chat shows, ‘A question of TT races’ quiz event, and will also be available to meet fans and sign memorabilia. TT Rider Liaison officers Richard ‘Milky’ Quayle and John Barton will also attend.

Martyn Quayle MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure commented:

“This is a really important show to promote all of the motorsport events that the Island has to offer, particularly the bike sport events. The team have put together a really targeted marketing campaign at the show that I’m sure will encourage visitors to come to the Isle of Man”.
