Joking aside, I've often wondered what it would be like racing the other way round the TT course, would it be better or worse? Safer or more dangerous? Quicker or even alot slower??
I guess we'll never know but it does ake you wonder eh? ;-)

RE: Sensational Announcement 01/04/2009 - Jan Grainger - 01-04-2009

Spoke to a guy in Australia recently who said he actually WALKED around the course (in the proper direction) once. Wonder how many folk have actually done that.

RE: Sensational Announcement 01/04/2009 - ian huntly - 01-04-2009

I walked the course a good few years back and it took me a full, full day and I was completely done in. I slept all the next day. The worst parts were the run in to Baaregaroo and the section up and past Gooseneck. I couldn't do a lap now but I would love to try it !! The traffic is much more now than it was all those years ago so it is not safe to walk.

No, the April Fool announced that Shearer is to manage Newcastle, Honda or Norton but only the first one is true..

It had us all larfing until it was confirmed.

I remember they once had a Backwards at Brands Hatch meeting. If my memory is correct a certain SMB Hailwood won it. smilie

RE: Sensational Announcement 01/04/2009 - sticky - 01-04-2009

You're not wrong. The Hutchinson 100 used to be run in the reverse direction. And going off at a slight tangent, some car races used to run the wrong way round Mallory. I think more than a few of them ended up in the lake!

Jan, I don't know if it's still run but on the Sunday before practice there used to be a marathon race around the TT course that finished down by the war memorial, so not only have people walked it but plenty of mad buggers have actually run it!!

RE: Sensational Announcement 01/04/2009 - Jan Grainger - 01-04-2009

We humans do funny things. I think my Aussie mate started the walk at 3 am and finished at 11 pm, so I guess that sounds about right. He was not a young man when he did it either. Ian, you did well.

Impromptu quiz question - The British mainland has only two anti clockwise race circuits.

They Are?

Ok then, which rider allegedly set off in the wrong direction at Monza during his first test with a team and had to be flagged down at the start/finish line and turned around by the team?
