ANY GOOD ISLE OF MAN TT BOOKS? - cooperhags - 01-04-2009

Hey all, I work for a Los Angeles film production company hoping to develop a feature film on the TT, and I was wondering what are the VERY BEST books out there on the TT that you've read? Also, we're especially interested in finding a fictional narrative TT book. So far, I haven't been able to find one, but I didn't know if someone else knew about one, or even some really good novel that uses a motorcycle race in the plot, doesn't necessarily have to be the TT. Anyway, thanks for your help.

If you try Duke Marketing:

They can probably help you. There's a book you won't find there though as it's long out of print but if you can track down a book called 'Last Of The Great Road Races' by Ronnie Mutch published by Transport Bookman in 1975 - it gives a great insight into a newcomer's first impression of the TT.

Word to the wise though - the TT is a very precious thing to a lot of people and some people when doing docs etc can concentrate too much on the danger aspect. There's much, much more to it than that.

Why not offer to fly our one and only Ian Huntly over to LA for a few weeks. You will need some big air cargo space for Ian's store of information. SmileSmile

Thanks Chris

I could offer my "TT - The Musical" (http://www.ianhuntly.co.uk/TTpicu7.htm) to follow the success of "Mamma Mia" couldn't I, ------------ plus my as yet unpublished memoirs !!!

However there are two excellent fiction books about the TT - (http://www.ianhuntly.co.uk/newbuk.htm)

"Murder on the Mountain" and "The Ultimate Trial" both by T D Maughold which I can recommend especially for their accurate and detailed description of the Isle of Man and the TT.

These books are quite James Bond-ish and would make good films. Who in your considered opinion could play such a character at the TT >>? Shaun Harris could be an antipodean Daniel Craig.
