MMCC tying up 'loose ends' following FoM cancellation

Around 40 newcomers' preparations in vain

The chairman of the Manx Motor Cycle Club says their work is not yet done for the 2020 Festival of Motorcycling, despite its cancellation.

It was announced this week that this year's Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT were the latest events to fall by the wayside amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Peter Maddocks says from the organisers' point of view, there are still some 'loose ends' to tie up:

Meanwhile, a director of the MMCC has described how the cancellation of this year’s event will impact people who’d hoped to have their first experience of riding the Mountain Course.

Around 40 newcomers had been due to race for the first time this year – roughly half of whom had already spent a weekend learning to ride the course with instructors and experts.

Jim Hunter says prospective competitors had spent a long time preparing for the road races which won’t happen:
