Glad to see you got a good deal on Flights and Digs, but sorry to say the winter wont be long enough to save up all the cash that you will need to meet all the extra costs now involved just watching the races.

Another tip. If your up at the Grandstand and want some food , just goe acroos the lane to the football clubhouse, this year the food was first class, plenty of it and almost 40% cheaper than the Grandstand vendors.

Good tip on the food outlet at the Football club George, but do I not recall that someone was trying to have that outlet closed during TT because they were taking trade away from those outlets that had "paid for the privilege" of siting their stalls at the back of the Grandstand ?

Any bets that the Football club will be informed that they will not be allowed to sell their wares unless they stump up their "privilege fee".

How can they stop the football club who pay an annual rent to run a clubhouse that can serve the public. They did a great Chicken and Chips this year for £1-20 less than the cost of a grandsatnd burger

That did not happen. How would anyone involved in the TT organisation be able to stop St Georges from trading?

The fact of the matter is that the Department works with St Georges and other local sports clubs, encouraging them to run their camp sites during TT time.

RE: tt2012
Trouble with the TT and the Granstand is one certain person is taking this pee on what he/ they charge the vendors to set up shop there. And you can guarantee the food prices will be sky high this year because the vendors have had their rents jacked up by about 10%

What the powers to be cant see is with all the high prices now being charged on the IOM during TT period is only going to Pee the locals off even further, lose their backing of the event then kiss goodbye to the TT. Also during the TT the schools have to close down, the kids have to do something and its now getting to the stage where families cant afford to do anything with the kids due to the costs and not all families are in favour of the turmoil the TT can bring.

With reference to my previous posting, I don't think that I referred to the Department at any time within the posting.

Rather, the story that came to my attention earlier this year, was more of an "individual" who was going around making noises that he was going to make sure that HE got the named outlet shut down.

Whether that was in the name of the Department or not, was inconclusive at the time, and as of now that still remains to be the same.

However, many thanks Paul for making the clarification on the issue raised.

No names Larry as the matter has been clarified by Paul !

No it's not Jame Boind as you have suggested George, or were you thinking of James Bond, Basildons' brother ?

It don't take much to wake a few old Zombies up on a cold winters night, just have to poke the stick in the right little holes to stir them up, Icon_lol
