Ballygowan club will back Hamilton
Ballygowan and District Road Racing Supporters Club
have pledged their support to young prospect Jamie Hamilton in 2012.

The club had previously committed to southern rider David Lumsden next season, but after the deal fell through it was confirmed that former Junior Superstock 600 champion Hamilton would receive the financial backing of the club.

Hamilton will ride for Dungannon star Ryan Farquhar’s KMR Kawasaki next year at the three main international road races, the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix, plus the national meetings here in addition to events at Scarborough and the Southern 100.

A statement issued by the Ballygowan club said: “Following talks with team principal Ryan Farquhar the club has agreed to help with running costs at all nationals, the three major internationals plus Scarborough and the Southern 100.

“We are pleased to announce we will be supporting KMR racing with Jamie Hamilton next season on the KMR Kawasaki Supertwin and ZX-10 Superstock machines.

“We are eagerly looking forward to working alongside a team regarded as one of the most professional anywhere and are confident Jamie can perform at the highest level.”

Farquhar will embark on another campaign next year as he aims to banish the memories of a disappointing Isle of Man TT in June, when a crash on the final night of practice at Keppel Gate ruled him out of the remainder of race week.

With the introduction of a Supertwins race for the first time on the Mountain Course in 2012, the Ulster ace will be among the top contenders for a TT victory in the inaugural event, with Hamilton also expected to make his mark.
