Fresh push for Homestay members ahead of 2012 Isle of Man TT

A fresh appeal for Isle of Man homeowners to join the Homestay programme and provide accommodation for visiting TT fans has been launched.

With the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy fast approaching, Isle of Man Tourism has asked Island homeowners who can help accommodate the thousands of visitors to get involved.

The Homestay team wants to hear from anyone who has a spare room available and can offer guests accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, or would consider renting out their entire property.

Homestay can be offered during TT for any number of nights between May 26 and June 10 inclusive and homes are required to be inspected by department officers before being registered for the scheme.

Department of Economic Development Political Member with responsibility for Tourism Geoff Corkish said:

“We would welcome more residents to join this very popular scheme to enable more TT visitors to enjoy our Island and the TT spectacle.”

“Registration costs just £15.00, covering public liability insurance.”

“I would like to thank everyone who has registered in previous years and ask them to consider doing so again this year to ensure TT 2012 is a great success.”

TT Homestay registration closes on April 30 and the department is unable to accept any applications after then.

For further information and terms and conditions please download the Guidance Notes from www.visitisleofman.com/homestay.

If you feel you meet the criteria and would like to register for the Homestay scheme please call the Homestay team on 686802 or email homestay@gov.im

Its just a pity that the Islands Department of Tourism dont put as much effort into finding places to stay for the MGP. This year has been near impossible to find places to stay for the MGP visitors and teams
