I am greatly saddened to receive the information that we have lost John, a journalist and friend who was from the special days.

John, who had been suffering heart and lung complications, passed away at around 12.45 today at Kettering General Hospital near to his Northamptonshire home. His wife Anne and son Tony were at his bedside.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be finalised but I will let you all know at the earliest opportunity

If you require any further information, Anne has asked Paul Fowler to field calls on her behalf for the time being so please feel free to call Paul on 07973 343158.

Never their like again....................

I have set up a page of Memories and Dedications to John, on Facebook... I am pleased with the number of people who are contributing a few words.

Some big names have also added their condolences.

Please add yours

Thank you

JOHN BROWN - a dedication

I am hoping I can print the contributions and pass them on to his family..

RE: John Brown RIP
The pages of Dedications to John were handed over to Anne and Tom (Johns wife and Son) ...They were very pleased with what people wrote about John.

The service commenced with "Take the "A" Train" (Duke Ellington)

"Afterglow" was read out:

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times, and laughing times, and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave, when life is done....

Paul Fowler read out a moving tribute.

Diana Krall sang "Just the way you are"

After the Lords Prayer Lynda Hammond read out "He is Gone" which
described John exactly..............

The service ended with the well-known piece of music "Bring me Sunshine" (Morecambe and Wise)

Thanks Ian. We'll not see his like again. A truly wonderful character. I will miss him, but was honoured to have known him.
I wish I could have attended his funeral.
