The late Steve Hislop will be celebrated at the next round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Knockhill (14/15/16 June) as the event at the Scottish circuit will carry his name and commemorate his racing achievements on the 10th anniversary of the year of his passing.

Hislop was renowned for his extraordinary riding talent; he had the ability to race motorcycles from across the different classes and disciplines from road racing to winning British Championship titles and remains one of the most successful riders in BSB history. Hislop's speed and success in the Championship is undeniable; Hizzy still holds the record for the most pole positions with 22 and achieved 29 race wins and two titles before he tragically lost his life in an aviation accident in July 2003.

To celebrate his life and accomplishments there will be a special ride around during the lunch break during the weekend featuring his iconic Cadbury's Boost Yamaha. Former on track rival and team-mate Niall Mackenzie and former protégé Stuart Easton on a replica Monstermob Ducati will take part in the lap with many of Hislop's family in attendance.

The fastest MCE BSB rider of the day will also be presented with the Flying Haggis Trophy, inaugurated in 2004 by Steve's mother Margaret for recording the best lap of the two feature races.

MCE BSB Series Director Stuart Higgs said:

"The Steve Hislop Knockhill Round is our way of commemorating a true racing hero. It seems impossible that ten years have passed since his tragic and untimely death, but on the occasion of the Scottish round of the Championship its entirely appropriate to devote some time to celebrating Steve's many achievements.
