Morning Session

Four in a row for Cowton

Close racing at Billown

There’s some been exciting racing at Billown in Monday’s opening session of the Blackford's pre-TT Classic.

Despite poor conditions, the action has been keenly contested and Iain Robertson proved triumphant in the day's first race, the Support Race, finishing 59.7 seconds clear of second-placed Jeff Ward with Stephen Boyes completing the podium.

Mike Hose then made history in the Lightweight contest.

Despite being pushed all the way, Hose claimed victory ahead of second placed Brian Mateer to record his 15th title at the meeting.

Ward claimed his second top-three finish of the day in third.

The reduced six-lap Senior Classic was next up with Honda rider Steve Ferguson leading from start to finish from Barry Davidson and Bill Swallow.

James Cowton celebrated victory in the Geoff Duke Junior Superbike Post Classic for the fourth year in a row (audio attached).

Davidson secured another runners-up spot with Gary Vines completing the podium line-up.

Vince Biggs and Vicky Cooke clinched victory in the sidecar race from Rod Bellas/Danny Quirk and Mike Bellarby/Dave Gristwood.

Afternoon Session

Milestone victories at Billown

Swallow, Coward and Hose shine

Jamie Coward and Mike Hose were the key figures in an exciting afternoon at the Blackford pre-TT Classic.

Coward swept to an emphatic win in the Superbike race, finishing comfortably up on Hose and Dennis Booth to claim his eighth overall success, moving him level with father Paul on that mark.

There was another landmark as Hose (audio attached) took victory in the Junior Classic, ahead of Alan Oversby and Barry Davidson, to claim a record equalling win in the event.

His 16th success moved him level with veteran Bill Swallow who earlier had proved as reliable as ever to take the 850 Classic.

He finished ahead of Steve Ferguson and Dominic Herbertson.

The open sidecar race at Billown saw Dave Molyneux and Dan Sayle drop down at the start, fight their way back to take the lead a mile from the finish before Vince Biggs and Vicky Cooke stole it at the finish for a race day double.

Rod Bellas and Danny Quirk were third.
