Local sidecar competitors Michael Jackson and Harry Payne are linking up to make their TT debuts together this year.

Jackson won the 2017 British Cup Sidecar Championship title with Callum Crowe, who has since jumped in with his elder brother Ryan.

In what is a complete swap over, Payne was with Ryan Crowe for the majority of last year. (The Crowe brothers are also hopeful of making a TT debut).

A former local trials rider, Jackson has acquired a new DMR chassis built by 17-time TT winner Dave Molyneux. It will use a 600cc Suzuki power plant.

Over the last two years his MJR team has produced some good results in the UK. In 2016 he secured the Wirral 100 championship and in 2017 the national ACU FSRA British F2 Cup.

The series was held over 14 races in which reliability and consistency was key to his and Callum Crowe’s overall success.

They finished on the podium nine times, producing seven wins and only one non-finish over the course of the championship.

Although they are both newcomers to the Mountain Course, Jackson and Payne have strong potential. With Jackson’s British Cup success and Payne’s strong results at Oliver’s Mount, the pair have bags of potential. Their goal is to achieve a top-20 in the TT.

Michael and Harry are seeking corporate partners and sponsors for the 2018 season.
