SUTER Racing at TT2018
[Image: lougheronsuter1.jpg]

We here at Suter Industries are very pleased to announce that we will be participating in the 2018 Tourist Trophy at the Isle of Man!

This prestigious event requires everything from man and machine. The man who rose to the challenge 2 years ago, will again gather all his skill and knowledge of the mountain course to ride our MMX500 V4 2-Stroke in both the Superbike and the Senior TT race.

Ian has an unquestionable pedigree at this circuit. The idea to race here is simple: Show how much the MMX500 has matured, in both reliability and efficiency.

“It goes without saying, I am excited to be racing the Suter MMX500 again at the Isle of Man TT races. I feel that after all the hard work put in by the entire Suter team and myself, it’s very much unfinished business and I can‘t wait to go testing. It‘s two years since our last episode together, and the engineers say that they have managed to squeeze even more power out of the engine and iron out all the niggly problems we encountered in 2016. I’m ready to go down Bray Hill and give the spectators that Two Stroke experience again.‘‘ Ian Lougher (10 Time TT Winner)

“Development from our initial run at the mountain two years ago, has been ongoing. We are confident in what Ian will be able to achieve with the bike in this trim!” Eskil Suter

In another first! We are selling this TT 2018 race bike as is! The sales package includes:

1) The MMX500 Ian Lougher raced at the IoM TT 2018  (Including all road rash and bugs).
2) Handed over in person by the team and rider on sight (perhaps even in Pit lane).
3) A complete set of Suter 2018 TT Team Wear.
4) VIP access to all the team and rider paddock, as well as all activities the team is part of.
5) An allocated spot to one of our very own Suter Race Days, with Eskil leading the way as your personal coach himself!

To witness first-hand the thrill of the IoM and be an integral part of the story in 2018 !

Then take that piece of history home with you! There is no way of being closer…

Unless you take part yourself !

It will, but is Lougher now the man to get the best out of it at his age and previously retired from the event? I guess it might be difficult to get anyone who is currently truly competitive on board, and maybe that isn't the point of the entry. A great project and a welcomed change.

I agree to be honest I don't think it's up to superbike level but you never know with the right man on board maybe top 15!

Not every rider will have Ian's 2-poke experience - they are a totally different beast to ride compared to 4-strokes. It's a fab looking machine, sounds really good and where I seen it last time out the bike looked like it was on rails. It's also great to see the commitment of Suter at the TT.

I was thinking much the same - probably only Bruce who would have anything like Loughers experience with 2 strokes and he's still looking for wins.

IMO - the problem they have is that the quality of the field is such that you need to be on a very competitive machine to make the top 20.  If they knock off a load of 120 - 125 mph laps and finish the race it'd be a great achievement but they'll be mid field and hence won't attract the attention they deserve.

Hopefully they keep entering though as its a great inclusion to the entry.

Doesn't say how much the bike will be - anyone hazard a guess?

Last price I saw quoted which was for the Mk1 a couple of years ago, was circa £100k

I think Ian got it round at 121ish in 2016

I was only thinking when I made the original post, all that is required is for MD to split with Suzuki and then he can jump aboard the Suter. He knows how to ride a 2 stroke. Smile

Much as I admire him, I also think Lougher's not the man for results at the TT. However, Michael Rutter is a proven recent leaderboard man and he has the necessary two stroke experience. Pity he's already sorted.

I'm a bit of a realist to put this bike in the 130+ bracket would have to be super human I'm not sure but I've been wrong before

Bruce had the YZR500 round at 127.496, the Suter Is 2 decades further on it terms of brake and suspension components, and can run slicks.

With a current TT rider at the top of his game, and if the power output matches the YZR I don't think it would be that far off.

RE: SUTER Racing at TT2018
Rob McElnea on a RG500 was doing 118mph too many years ago before any of the TT course "improvements" including Quarry Bends. A factory XR series motor RG500 was around 125bhp on a good day .. the Suter is allegedly 195hp and very light - add 30 odd years of improvements in all areas of track, track surface, bike tech etc and 130mph lap should be on the cards. Just need Bruce to get on it.
