One of the most popular and well-known faces around the Billown Course for very many years along with her husband Jimmy, Barbara’s knowledge and enthusiasm for the ‘friendly races’ was second to none.

Son Barry became a familiar figure in the Paddock once he made his Billown debut in 1988 amassing ten wins over the following twenty years.

Barbara’s enjoyment of the races around the 4.25-mile southside course never failed to diminish, even after Barry had finished racing as the family continued to travel south to watch the races.

Always with a smile Barbara Wood was a great supporter of the Southern 100 Races and her presence will be sorely missed, but remembered with affection in future years.

Southern 100 Racing extends it sincere condolences to husband Jim, son Barry and all family members and close friends at this sad time.
