REVAMPED SCHEDULE PROPOSED FOR CLASSIC TT
[Image: ClassicScheduleUpdate.jpg]

It has been proposed that the 2020 Classic TT Races presented by Bennetts will be run on a revamped schedule designed to improve the spectator experience and mitigate the demands that are placed on teams, riders and volunteers including the TT Marshals Association and local residents.

The proposed changes have also been introduced to ensure optimum alignment of speeds and experience between the Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix competitors during shared qualifying sessions and in order to reduce the number of participants and machines on track during any one session. The new schedule will mean some changes to established road closures.

As with the proposed change to the TT Race schedule which was announced last month, it is proposed that qualifying for the 2020 Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix will start one day later on Sunday 23rd August, with a longer afternoon session which will also introduce more certainty to the schedule.

Classes will be split per session on alternate days from Monday until Thursday based on machine speeds in order to maximise the time on track per class, reduce the volume of machines on the course and reduce the congestion through technical inspection and into the parc ferme area.

As with the TT Races, it is proposed that the final qualifying session for the Classic TT Races will move from the evening to the afternoon - on Friday 28th August - providing more time on track and more time for preparation ahead of the opening day of racing.

Each of the two Classic TT Race days will open with a one-lap free qualifying session at the start of each race day and, in a change to the programme, the Dunlop lightweight and Junior Classic TT Races will both now be over three laps.

Saturday’s and Monday’s race programme will open with the three lap races before concluding with the Bennetts Senior and RST Superbike Classic TT Races respectively.

The full proposed schedule for the 2020 Classic TT Races, which is subject to approval from the Department for Infrastructure, can be found here.

Tickets for the 2020 Classic TT presented by Bennetts go on sale Friday 14th February via the Official Classic TT website - iomttraces.com/classic.
