One of road racing’s most exciting young prospects is the latest sportsman to be selected as an Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Champion.

Nathan Harrison, who this year became the youngest rider to complete a Junior and Senior Manx Grand Prix Double, joins fellow road racer Conor Cummins, pro golfer Tom Gandy and talented cyclist Tom Mazonne in benefitting from further Company assistance next season.

The 21 year-old Manxman, who hails from Onchan, will have his travel requirements backed throughout the road racing calendar as he aims to compete in major events on and off Island.

Nathan, who comes from a family of racers, has already been on the Company’s Supported Sports scheme for a number of years.

He’s extremely grateful for the support.

‘Since I was a child I’ve always had a passion for motorsport but understand that it is a big commitment both physically and financially to pursue this dream,’ he explained.

‘To have this support from the Steam Packet Company will be a massive help and allow me to concentrate on the competitive side of the racing.’

Among Nathan’s plans for 2020 are to ride in the NorthWest 200 in Northern Ireland, the TT and Classic TT, the Ulster Grand Prix and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company International Southern 100 meetings.

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward added:

‘Nathan is clearly a talented young Manx rider with an exciting future ahead of him.

‘The Steam Packet Company has an important role to play in supporting Island sportsmen and women and we are delighted to provide him with fully sponsored travel for the season ahead as he flies the Manx flag.’
