Josh Brookes held the position at the top of the times after the second day of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship Official Test at Monteblanco, holding a 0.114s advantage over Danny Buchan as the times tumbled and the top 13 were covered by just 0.978s.

The 2015 champion had set the benchmark lap during the morning session, as did his Massingberd-Mundy Kawasaki rival with little between the pair as the chequered flag ended the day.

However, in the closing stages of the day Hector Barbera fired himself into third place for the Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW team as he continues to get to grips with the S 1000 RR, pushing Jason O'Halloran back into fourth place for McAMS Yamaha.

Luke Mossey maintained his position inside the top five at the end of the penultimate day, edging ahead of Ryan Vickers and Joe Francis who had another consistent day for Lloyd & Jones Bowker BMW.

Christian Iddon on the second of the VisionTrack Ducati’s was eighth fastest with reigning Supersport champion Jack Kennedy holding ninth place for the Santander Salt TAG Yamaha team and Tommy Bridewell completing the top ten.

Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Official Test, Monteblanco, Day 2 combined result:
