A man accused of defrauding TT visitors out of £17,000 through a fake campsite will have his case heard by a higher court.

Ian Moffitt, aged 34, of Ashdale, Randalstown, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, faces nine counts of fraud by false representation between May and June 2018.

Due to the Covid pandemic, Moffitt was unable to appear before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday.

Defence advocate Louise Cooil said her client could not appear via videolink from Northern Ireland courts.

She said he is likely to plead not guilty to the charges.

Mrs Hughes said the case was too serious to be dealt with in summary court.

Moffitt was bailed to appear again for committal proceedings to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on August 11.
