UPDATE: For anyone planning to attend a Bennetts BSB event this summer.

MSV has just confirmed arrangements for spectators at its circuits in a statement

For anyone planning to attend a Bennetts BSB event this summer, MSV has just confirmed arrangements for spectators at its circuits in a statement here:

MSV has been welcoming visitors back to its race events since Saturday 11 July, with a range of safety measures introduced to comply with latest government COVID-Secure guidelines. These race meetings have all run extremely successfully, with a great deal of positive feedback. Tickets are on sale for all upcoming events and you can visit our race calendar by clicking here.

Circuit venues are by their very nature wide open spaces, and have ample room to enable social distancing across dozens of spectator viewing areas. This is quite different to 'elite' sports such as Premier League football and rugby which fall under the government's elite sport pathway, and which tend to attract huge crowds, mostly in stadiums, and typically rely on public transport.

Nevertheless, like other outdoor visitor attractions such as zoos and theme parks, MSV is restricting its attendance numbers significantly and has put numerous other changes in place to keep its visitors and employees safe. You can download a PDF summary by clicking here, however the key points are listed below:

Book in advance to guarantee admission

Until further notice, all tickets must be purchased online in advance to guarantee admission.

Season pass holders and resident pass holders have been factored in to our capacity calculations and will not be required to pre-register. They will simply have to present their pass on arrival.

Restricted Paddock

The governing bodies of motorsport in this country (Motorsport UK, the ACU and MCRCB) require all working areas of race meetings to be closed to the general public. It will therefore not be possible to access the paddock and pit lane unless you have an official pass issued by the event organiser.

Grandstand Seating

To enable social distancing, all grandstand seating plans have been reconfigured, currently with alternate rows closed-off and a minimum two-seat gap required between household groups. If you have purchased grandstand seating for an upcoming event we may need to contact you regarding your booking.

Campsites

We are pleased to be offering overnight stays in our official paid campsites at major race meetings as usual. We will be deploying enhanced cleaning measures in our toilets and showers, in line with government guidance. Please note that overnight stays are not permitted for spectators at club-level meetings.

Hospitality and Trackside Lounge Upgrades

We will be reducing capacities in our suites and adjusting our table layouts amongst a range of changes to comply with latest guidance. We are completely confident that we will deliver a great hospitality experience but will contact existing customers to explain these changes in more detail.

Tickets on sale now for all remaining 2020 events

We're very excited about the resumption of national-level race meetings in August, which is set to be a particularly busy month with 12 headline events including rounds of Bennetts BSB, BTCC, British GT/F3, Truck racing and the Historic Gold Cup.

Racedays will feel quieter than usual for visitors, but these will still be great events! Tickets will sell out in advance of certain race meetings due to our reduced capacities, so please keep an eye on our circuits' social media pages for the latest updates.

Do you have a query that is not answered here?

MSV have added a Frequently Asked Questions page to address queries across the business areas, including driving experiences and trackdays. Plus what to do if you've booked tickets for an event that's been cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19 and you haven't yet received an email from MSV. Click here to visit the page.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: NO SPECTATORS AT BENNETTS BSB EVENTS IN AUGUST
UPDATE 31/7/20

For anyone planning to attend a Bennetts BSB event this August, MSV has just issued an updated statement here:

MSV can today (31/7) confirm that, following further consultation with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), we will be unable to permit spectators at any Bennetts British Superbike Championship events during August. This means we cannot allow ticket or season pass holders to attend any of the following events:

Bennetts BSB at Donington Park - 7-9 August
Bennetts BSB at Snetterton - 21-23 August

MSV has followed the government's guidance at every stage in our event planning. Regrettably, in our most recent consultation with DCMS, their interpretation of the definition of Elite Sport has widened to include Bennetts BSB (and BTCC), as the leading national championships in the UK. This position coincides with the government's decision to postpone any further test events with spectators at Elite Sport fixtures. Unfortunately this classification means that these events must now follow the government's Elite Sport pathway, with spectators presently unable to attend.

In line with the wording of Elite Sport guidance, we have not considered these events to be Elite Sport, with the guidance focussed towards sports such as Premier League football and Rugby League, which tends to attract huge crowds, mostly in stadiums, and typically rely on public transport. By contrast, circuit venues are by their very nature wide-open spaces like parks, with ample room to enable social distancing across dozens of spectator viewing areas. To be clear, the decision not to allow spectators at Bennetts BSB events has nothing to do with MSV's comprehensive Covid-Secure procedures for keeping our customers and staff safe.

We hope that we will be able to welcome spectators back to these events soon, and will maintain a dialogue with DCMS and our local authorities to pursue that agenda, always with public health as a priority. We will provide further updates on Bennetts BSB events beyond August in due course.

We understand that this news will be hugely disappointing and difficult to understand, and we are so sorry for the inconvenience this will cause. We were really looking forward to welcoming fans to these events and have worked extremely hard to provide a totally safe environment, liaising closely with local partners, so this development is very frustrating for the entire team at MSV.

We politely ask that customers do not contact us regarding their tickets - we intend to email all affected purchasers by email today with further details, including how to claim a full refund. Venue Season Pass holders will be contacted in the next few weeks with details on how we intend to manage their bookings.
