Alfie, you may have been sat next to me - I have almost identical shots!

End of Cronk-y-Voddy in 2016

#3 is John Holden. I think he still had Andy Winkle in the chair that year.
#2 is Ben & Tom Birchall

Not sure it was the same day, but if it was I'll be in your pic. I was there in practice week. I too then wandered around the other side.

I'm loving this thread and am continually amazed that I don't recognise the course looking in the other direction. I easily identified the two sidecar teams in the two recent photos but failed to identify the location as Cronk-y-Voddy???

The only corner I can think of with that white crash barriers is Gorse lea, but I think the corner looks too tight to be there. I would take a punt on it being somewhere between Kirk Michael and Ballaugh.

I would think that you were right to say Gorse Lea

RE: Who, What, Where, When?
I'm going with Dan Stewart on the Superbike in 2014 (disclosure - I googled the year) agree with Gorse Lea.  For some reason I'd never noticed the pavement on the inside of Gorse Lea - probably because I'd usually be on the other side of the road.

Its a great perspective - usually Gorse Lea shots are from much further back.  Just wondering if its cropped to give the view shown?

WRT Dan Stewart - he was a fairly reliable top 10 guy for many years and I often wondered why he never made the move to one of the bigger teams - just to see if he could make the next step.  Always seemed like he was on bikes that were a few years old.

Gorse Lea indeed, I had to check my pics because I too didn't remember the pavement on the other side.
Which is strange because I walked down it from St Johns before roads closed!  Confused

Sam Pato picks up the ball, goes past the defence, shoots and scores ... the epic Gorse Lea indeed with Dan Stewart, pic is taken from the last spec point before the restricted area starts .. i'll upload some more pics later of bikes and spec ..

RE: Who, What, Where, When?
Always helps if the riders name is on the leathers  Icon_lol... and the hard part on the location had been done for me.  So I won’t tally up the full 3 points to team Pato.

I mentioned Paul Shoesmiths high speed run down the pit lane a few posts ago....anyway I found it on YouTube if anyone’s interested in seeing an epic near miss.

Thanks for posting that video Sam, I've never seen it before.
So scary. Fingers crossed it never happens again.

Gorse Lea!? Another reason I had ruled it out was because of the pavement! Oh well, I'll get it right sometime!

That really is a scary video of Paul Shoesmith. Sends shivers down the spine thinking on what could have happened.

I imagine if I could understand what those Northern European chaps who filmed were saying it’d have been fairly colourful 😀
