MONDAY - As we saw it.
Dappled leaf shadows patterned the calm countenances of 6 righteous Marshals at Gorse Lea throughout today's events. We were modestly pleased when our bold prediction became reality with Richard Britton's excellent 3rd place in this morning's race - We said, " Richard Britton looks favourite to have at least 1 podium place this year".

We understand that Zebra Man evaded capture throughout the Lightweight Race.

Between races The Antrim Men and Mick from Spennithorne withdrew for a satisfying luncheon at Mrs Leece's Cronk Brec establishment. Reginald Robert Berrie and Your Correspondent picnicking at the shelter, were joined by The Vigilante Thrush, relentless in his mission to establish the Gorse Lea curtilages as a worm-free zone.

It was agreed that the Production Race was breathtaking, and that David Jefferies could have won Sunday's match for England if Sven had thought to ask him.

Tears of nostalgia were discretely wiped away during the TTRA Lap of Honour. We had the yellow flag out for Paolo Valgrande when his Guzzi Dondolino proved less than gutsy, but he kicked it a few times before pedalling it on to Ballacraine. The Anagram of the day from the letters in Gorse Lea was Lose Gear.

After the Roads Open car had glided past majestically we adjourned to Gorse Lea House for afternoon tea on the lawn.
