V&M Racing Finish 4th in Production TT
 Submitted by: (V&M Racing) Jun 5, 2002

Hi there,

There is no nicer place to be than in the Isle of Man (when the sun shines that
is). I am sitting in my hotel room and the rain streams down the window.........

V&M Racing's Jim Moodie claimed a fine fourth place finish in Mondays Production
1000 TT, after the V&M Racing Team were forced to make last minute changes to
the gearing on his 1000cc R1 Yamaha, to guarantee fuel economy and allow for one
pit stop, after two laps of the demanding 37.75 mile mountain circuit.

In another record breaking race, the Scotsman enjoyed a trouble free three laps,
to complete the 113.25 mile distance in a time of 56min 33.4 sec, at an average
speed of 120.08mph, to narrowly miss out on another podium position by just 28
seconds after nearly an hours high speed racing.

The Production V&M Racing R1 Yamaha was absolutely faultless, and a superb
machine to ride around the TT circuit, said Moodie. It was a pity I couldn't
mix it with the front running Suzuki's, but nevertheless it was a really
enjoyable race.

The team weren't too disappointed to miss out on another podium finish, as team
boss Jack Valentine explained their dilemma. After practice week we knew it was
going to be touch and go for the bike to complete two laps. We had no option but
to fit higher gearing for the race, which meant Jim was way down on top speed
compared to the Suzuki's. All things considered it was an exceptional result for
both ourselves and Yamaha.
