2006 MANX GRAND PRIX – FRIDAY RACE PREVIEWS

Roads close at 9.30am and first will be the combined Lightweight and Ultra-Lightweight race at 10.15.

Top of the Practice Leaderboard in the Lightweight was Tony Cawte (Honda) from Crosby at 110.651mph. Second, 14 seconds slower at 109.424mph was Stuart Garton (Honda) from Scunthorpe, with third Nigel John (Honda) from Swansea a further four seconds back at 109.081mph.

Top of the Practice Leaderboard in the Ultra Lightweight was Micky Grose (400 Kawasaki) from Lezayre at 105.495mph. Second, 14 seconds slower at 105.310mph was Alan Oversby (400 Honda) from Bolton-le-Sands, with Joe Phillips (400 Kawasaki) a further three seconds back at 105.079mph.

The day’s second race will be the Senior event due to start at 1.15pm.

Top of the Practice Leaderboard was Junior Race winner Craig Atkinson (750 Suzuki) at 117.396mph set on Thursday. Second was Stephen Oates (750 Suzuki) 19 seconds slower at 115.480mph, with Alan Jackson (750 Suzuki) from Preston third, a further 12 seconds back at 114.292mph, but the latter is a non-starter after crashing in practice. Peter Symes (750 Suzuki) from Tamworth is next, 13 seconds down on Oates at 114.151mph, but he is also a non-starter after a spill. Next in line is Philip McGurk (750 Suzuki) from Oldham at 113.685mph.

At the conclusion of the race the participants in the Vintage Rally will parade on closed roads from Ramsey to the Grandstand.

The TT Course will re-open no later than 5pm.
