DOUBLE PODIUM FOR TEAM EASTERN AIRWAYS

Qualifying saw Reeves secure pole position and Hegarty third place on the grid for Sunday’s two races but although Hegarty got away to a blinding start Reeves was left on the line after becoming bogged down and was 10th into the first corner.

But he soon regained his composure and set about picking his way through the field, gaining ground and passing one outfit per lap until he found himself in third place behind Gary and Dan Knight and the Hegarty brothers who were holding the race lead.

He forged ahead of Knight and was poised to snatch the lead from his teammate when the red flag foiled his best-laid plans.

At the re-start Reeves made no mistake and shot away to an unassailable lead securing the win by a good six seconds from his teammate with Knight coming home in third place.

Race two saw Reeves slow to get away but this time he was fourth into the first corner and soon settled into his race rhythm. By the half way stage he hit the front and from then never looked back again, taking the win by a substantial margin from Hegarty. Gary and Dan Knight again took third place and moves to second in the championship race on 61 points.

With this fine double victory Tim Reeves remains series leader with a maximum tally of 100 points while Eastern Airways teammates Sean and Mark Hegarty move to third place on 60 points.

It’s a quick turnaround for Team Eastern Airways as both outfits will be at Brands Hatch over the weekend to compete in the second round of the FIM Superside World Sidecar championship which runs as a support race to the DTM German Touring Car championship on Sunday.
