Dunlop adds to TT tally with 125cc win Hondas Joey Dunlop put in a faultless display to take the 26th TT victory of his career with a start to finish win in Wednesdays 125cc Ultra-Lightweight race on the Isle of Man. Dunlop, 48, notched a hat-trick of TT 2000 wins in dominant style in the four-lap, 151-mile race. Victorious Dunlop took the chequered flag 16 seconds ahead of Denis McCullough with Joey's brother Robert third. Dunlop said: "The machine ran perfect. As soon as l got down Bray Hill on the first lap I knew the machine was going well, that gave me the heart to go for the win." "My only worry was fuel - I wasn't sure we'd put enough in at the stop but it worked out OK. This racing is tiring me out though. On the 125 you have to be really tucked in so it's hard work after an hour and a half around here." Runner up McCullough said: "I enjoyed the race but there's no stopping Joey. My machine ran perfect and I had a bit of dice with Darran Lindsay on the road which was good fun." Third placed Robert Dunlop said: "lt was down to me, I wasn't quick enough on the day. I didn't have any problems, the bike ran like a dream but I just don't know how Joey does it." Fourth placed Gary Dynes said: "I wasn't quick enough on the first lap - that lost me any chance of getting on the rostrum." Fifth-placed Darran Lindsay said: "The machine wouldn't pull top gear but, after the practice we've had, getting the right settings was a lottery. I tried to get a tow off Joey but I bogged the engine out of Ramsey hairpin and Joey was gone." Sixth placed Ian Lougher said: "To be honest I didn't expect too much With only two laps of practice on the machine. If felt over-geared and over-jetted." |
