Mountain Road One Way on Sunday

The Mountain Road will be one way from Ramsey hairpin to Cronk-ny-Mona on Sunday, the scheduled date for Mad Sunday, transport bosses have revealed. All traffic on Snaefell will have to travel in the direction of the TT course from 10am to 8pm.

Director of highways Bruce Hannay said: 'We will be looking for the police to implement various measures and more patrols.' The Mountain Road is a clearway during the TT fortnight, with riders only allowed to stop at the Bungalow, Verandah and Creg-ny-Baa.

Mr Hannay added: 'Traffic should take care and travel at an appropriate speed and motorcyclists should ride within their capability.' Transport Minister Tony Brown made the decision to make the road one way, despite the reduced number of visitors as a result of the cancellation of the races, after consulting with the police, Department of Tourism and his highways department.
