Castletown Commissioners have honoured Southern 100 Racing Chairman and Clerk of the Course, Phil Taubman for his services to the Southern 100 since the first meeting in 1955, when as a teenager he and his best friend Gordon Clague got involved in helping setting out the course putting out bales of straw around the course.

From those early years ‘Tubby’ as he is affectionately known became more involved from the giddy heights of being in charge of burning the toast in the morning in the catering department to Clerk of the Course for the Southern 100
International Road Races !

The presentation of an illuminated address in Castletown Civic Centre took place in front of the Southern 100 Committee and their wives, partners and special friends and the Castletown Commissioners.
