Festival of Motorcycling organisers have issued a revised plan for the next few days to make the best use of the final practice sessions for riders in various classes.

The road closure option for Tuesday has been activated and this will allow for additional qualifying for the main IMGold MGP classes, plus the opening race of that meeting for newcomers.

Weather permitting, the meeting should soon be back on track and the revised plan is the most sensible option in the circumstances.

Thursday evening was reserved solely for Classic TT Senior and F1/F2 competitors and machines in the first session, then MGP Newcomers and Classic TT 350 machines in the second part.

This evening (Friday) will see roads closing round the course at 6pm to allow the Classic TT 500, MGP SuperTwin, Lightweight and Newcomers B/C to go out first at 6.20, followed at 7.25 by the MGP Senior, Junior, Newcomers A and Classic TT F1/F2 classes.

Roads close at 11am on Saturday for a Classic TT 350 and F1/F2 qualifying session between 11.45am and 12.45pm.

There will be a Vintage MCC parade at 12.50, followed by the Bennetts Classic TT Senior 500cc race at 2.30 over four laps of the course.

At the conclusion of that there will be further qualifying for Senior, Junior and Newcomers A MGP riders and machines between 4.45 and 5.30pm; followed by the Norton: Rotary Years parade lap at 6.15.

This will precede another qualifying session for SuperTwin, Lightweight and Newcomers B/C classes between 7 and 7.45pm.

On Bank Holiday Monday, roads will close at 9.30am for the Okells Brewery 350cc Classic TT (as originally planned) at 10.15 over four laps.

The Classic Racer Magazine Classic TT Parade Lap is at 12.20pm, followed by the Motorsport Merchandise Formula 1 and Formula 2 races at 1.30pm over four laps.

The MGP newcomers get their final practice between 3.45 and 4.45, with the Senior, Junior, SuperTwin and Lightweight classes out on the course between 4.50 and 5.50pm to round off the day.

On Tuesday, roads will close at 11.30am for an extra qualifying session for Senior, Junior, SuperTwin and Lightweight MGP competitors between midday and 1pm. This will be followed by the IMGold MGP Newcomers race at 2pm over four laps.

The only other scheduled practice/qualifying session will be on Wednesday afternoon, after the conclusion of the Junior; SuperTwin and Lightweight races at 3.15pm for Senior machines only.

l See Tuesday’s edition of the Isle of Man Examiner for a special Classic TT News edition of Final Whistle and next week’s Manx Independent for the Newcomers and Junior MGP.

The SuperTwin and Lightweight races will appear in the Isle of Man Courier of September 4, with the Senior MGP in the Isle of Man Examiner of September 8.
