We're having a break based in Douglas at the start of July and I wondered if anyone could advise me please of the current situation regarding using a UK mobile phone in The Island.

Last time we were there, I had to buy a Manx Telecom SIM to use my (Virgin Mobile) phone.

Will I need to do the same this time (still with Virgin, who are about to become O2) or should it work okay as it is?

Thanks for any advice.
No your fine with your virgin phone. There no costs and up to 25gb of data . So my Dorris tells me and she works for O2 . We not long got back and I used my O2 phone as normal with no charges
Thanks very much. Last time we went, I lost my wife in the shops, couldn't ring her and had to buy a Manx Telecom SIM card so I could.

Mind you, a rant at Virgin on our return yielded a disproportionately generous discount on my bill for the next year!
Don't bother with GiffGaff they think Isle of Man is a foreign land and charge accordingly  15p/min to make, 5p/text and data 20p/MB
Just to update this, we were over last week and neither my Virgin or my wife's Talk Mobile phones would work there, even though she got a text from TM as we arrived telling her it would! My step-son's EE phone worked fine.

We bought two ten quid Sure Mobile SIMs from their shop in Strand Street and they did the trick all over the Island all week.

Virgin became O2 just after we returned, so we'll see what happens next time.
will ee still be ok as well ?

I had to take out a month's roaming pass on my EE phone, but beware it's your billing period month, not calendar month I got charged for so had to pay two months.
