Nick Crowe Racing Confirm Hegarty and Neave with Triumph package for 2015 TT Races - Malcolm - 19-11-2014

Nick Crowe of NCR and Nick's long term sponsor Dave Hudspeth of Dave Hudspeth Carpets, have signed a deal for their 2015 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy campaign. The 2 year deal includes current Eastern Airways F1 Sidecar Champions Sean Hegarty and James Neave as Driver and Passenger to the team.

The team will be running a 675 Triumph in the all-new HC Race developments chassis. Not only are they bringing another manufacturer into the growing Sidecar paddock but this will be slotted into a new brand of sidecar that is being developed by Nick himself, and built by ex. F1 guru Phil Wall who is also based on the Isle of Man. Mal Curnin of Yorkshire Engine Supplies has pledged his support to the quest, and joins the Team as one of the main sponsors.

Sean has not competed on the Isle for the last 19 years so both he and passenger James are looking to spend as much time as their 2015 race schedule allows ahead of the 2015 meeting doing 'the laps' of the Mountain circuit, under the expert guidance of lap record holder Nick Crowe. With the deal confirmed, the team will look to be ready for testing and shaking the bike down early in the New Year before the main event.

Commenting on the 2015 plans, Nick Crowe said:

"British Champions on a Manx chassis built with the input of the current TT lap record holder, then put a British Engine in the mix and you get,...Awesome - both for the TT and even more so for the Sidecar class."

He continued:

"This year will be all about stretching theirs and the bikes legs, so the pressure is clearly off the pairing. The team would be over the moon with if they can secure a top ten finish in the first year. Sean will be more than happy with that as, in 1996, despite running in a strong 6th as a newcomer, he is yet to see the chequered flag as mechanical failure resulted in DNF's in both races that year."

Does anyone know the last time a British engined outfit won the TT? I'm guessing it must be back in the 60s?

Thanks Sticky - I had no idea?!? Then I wasn't watching in 1986..... that was a bit of a gap period for me.
I'm off to look up Barton Phoenix!

It was a 750 square four 2 stroke, not unlike an RG500. If I'm not mistaken it was the same motor used for the Silver Dream Racer film.

That rings a bell from previous posts - I just never realised they won a TT with one!

Whilst not wishing to be impolite
Your claim to fame is far from right
On 17-4 it was plain to see
Who would be the winner of Sidecar B
Your psychic powers are but a sham
The true predictor was 'Mountain Man'

The first person on the IOM ded forum to rightly call Moly the winner

Hope this doesn't get me barred before we start Icon_lol

Now look here Super 6.......... mine was the only TRUE prediction, because mine was made the night before when everyone knew Moly didn't have a decent engine, and they all but wrote him off. I however, through a mixture of science, engineering and lager (few pints of) managed to correctly see through the predicament, and became the ONLY person to rightly call Moly as the winner.
The End.

It will certainly sound great in the sea of inline 4cylinders.
I wonder how it will stack up with the extra weight that comes with a sidecar?

Ahem, I think you will find that I predicted the winner months beforehand. And another thing, Mountain Man, I do hope your avatar is not an attempt to impersonate me !! (For those of you who don't know about these things, that's me in Mountain Man's picture). Looks like we could be having a lot of fun on this forum.  Smile

RE: Nick Crowe Racing Confirm Hegarty and Neave with Triumph package for 2015 TT Races - wsn03 - 03-12-2014

There was a post put up, the night before the Sidecar B race, asking for predictions. Everyone knew Moly's predicament (yeah honest)...... and no one was prepared to predict him.

Looking forward to hearing the 675 engine !
More so in a slidey,
Its going to be a big ask of Nicky and the boys, but at least theres no pressure on them to get a result, as such,
Using 2015 as a test session, ready for a full out go 2016 maybe ?
Good luck to them all

Heres a little teaser for you sidecar boffs. I work with someone who was the passenger on the first 100 mph sidecar lap around the TT course, can you name him ? The important bit here is the first !

Kenny Arthur? Passenger to the late George O'Dell, 1977. The first 100mph lap was in practice, but not "officially" recognised as a record, the first official one went to Dick Greasley, as the first person to set a 100mph lap in race conditions.

Mountain man. Ok the first racing lap passenger ! He was in Dicks sidecar a lap record he held till George crossed the line behind him but never the less the first racing lap of 100 mph plus @ 100. 59 mph from a standing start, by the end of the race it was raised by George to 102.8 mph

I'm not sure without cheating (looking at the results), so I'll let someone else have a go.

Along the same lines as a follow up, does anyone know who set the first 100mph Sidecar lap using a fourstroke engine?
