1995 TT - serowmaster - 31-03-2015

Right I know this is going back a bit so thinking caps on and no prizes : who were the top ten finishers in the 1995 senior TT, I will start you off joey won it on the Castrol Honda

RE: 1995 TT - Yamanx - 02-04-2015

Did Bob Jackson come second because the fuel cap wouldn't go on?

RE: 1995 TT - Splashdown - 02-04-2015

I'll avoid looking up the result on Database.

1st Joey
2nd Steve Ward
3rd Ian Duffus
4th Splashdown
5th Simon Beck
6th Bob Jackson
7th Colin Gable
8th Cap Davies
9th Lee Pullan
10th Chris Day

I'm struggling with any more.

RE: 1995 TT - Splashdown - 02-04-2015

OK I've cheated and looked it up.

Joey, Duffus, Ward, Splashdown, Dave Goodley, Jackson, Day, Michael Rutter ,Simon Beck, Dave Leach, Shaun Harris, Garry Radcliffe.
I'll never forget having a faulty Arai visor for the first two laps, it really cost me. I always felt that was I race I should have won.
Fair play to Joey, he was there and did the business in Phillip's absence. Steve Ward rode Phillip's bike and set the fastest lap.

RE: 1995 TT - Yamanx - 02-04-2015

Well you would undoubtedly remember having actually been in the race Smile

I think I was thinking of 1998?

I've got a picture of your bike, RC30? RC45?, leant up against the wall sometimes in the 1990's at Ballaspur I think, cant remember what happened tbh.

RE: 1995 TT - Splashdown - 02-04-2015

That was the 1998 F1 on an RC45. The rear suspension collapsed going into Ballaspur. We had modified the suspension unit of a well known manufacturer, and I really wish that I hadn't!!
Having lost the ligaments in my right knee in my 1997 crash at Greeba Castle, (when the gearbox seized on my CBR600) I then lost all the ligaments in my left knee at Ballaspur a year later.
It explains my lurid golf swing!!

I think that was 1998, I remember all the drama of that race!! poor Bob was riding the wheels off that Kawasaki, and in spite of the fuel cap problem, (I think the cap went hydraulic as the tank was full to the brim) he still either had the lead by a second, or was within one second of the lead at Ramsey hairpin on the last lap, but the exhaust was also falling to bits by then and he was losing power, it sounded like a tank through the bottom of Bray Hill on the last lap.

A amazing ride by Bob that day!!

RE: 1995 TT - Splashdown - 02-04-2015

Bob was a superb rider, and it would have been fantastic to beat the Hondas that day, in 1998. There must be quite a few riders who deserved a TT win but never got one. In addition to Bob, Roger Marshall, Nigel Davies, and Jason Griffiths spring to mind.

I think  we've had this thread before, but it still springs up new names.
In the thirties it was Ernie Nott and J.H. "Crasher" White.
Any more?

RE: 1995 TT - wsn03 - 02-04-2015

Sorry but was Bob Jackon's near win not in the 97 Senior?
I kind of remember that year as having some friends over, one still goes on about that race. They were over in 98 but I didn't see much of them as we were all with wives, and on the whole sheltering from weather........... 97 we were mainly basking in sunshine.

1997 (Or 1998) Senior, I was massively hung over and staying at Glen Lough. I had hitched the course on the Thursday, pint in every pub Smile 13 at the time I think, with a whole bunch of others.

I woke up about ten minutes before roads closed, Couldn't find anyone else, so grabed some supplies and walked towards Union Mills, too late, anyway ended up if a field, on my own, about 1-200 yards on the exit from UM, sat in a hedge on the inside (Not been there since or before)

It was a cracking Senior, no doubt, Bob Jackson was the only rider to come that close to the kerb by me, was awesome. His exhaust had broken the lap before, and was deafening on the last two laps. I was sooooo routing for him that day, and was gutted for him the cap wouldn't go back on.

Brilliant race, and I should go back there, to that spot, because it was great, on my Jack Jones, in a hedge and it really had the essence of the TT races Smile

RE: 1995 TT - Splashdown - 02-04-2015

Bob missed the win in the 1998 Senior, by roughly 3 seconds. Ian Simpson did the double that year.

RE: 1995 TT - serowmaster - 03-04-2015

thanks for that splashdown I thought chris day came 7th that year

RE: 1995 TT - LukeHondaBrightside - 04-04-2015

Podium and set the fastest lap of the race in only his 2nd year there. Not bad getting the fastest lap when you consider how hard Joey and McCallen were pushing each other!
