Josh Brookes is eyeing his first win of the 2015 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season at Oulton Park next weekend (2/3/4 May) and the Milwaukee Yamaha rider set the benchmark in the official test to lap 0.561s under the lap record to hold off Shane 'Shakey' Byrne.

The Australian rider held off Byrne by 0.041s to hold the top position after setting his lap earlier in the session and continued to clock up the laps on the new YZF-R1's first visit to the Cheshire circuit.

Brookes and Byrne were the only riders to dip into the 1m:34s lap time barrier, but both James Ellison and Stuart Easton were inside the lap record as the times tumbled in the final session of the day.

Tommy Bridewell continued to make positive steps forward with the Tyco BMW to hold fifth place, pushing Ryuichi Kiyonari back into sixth on the Buildbase BMW as the triple champion was another rider to improve in the closing stages.

RAF Reserves BMW's Peter Hickman bounced back from his crash at Brands Hatch to hold seventh on the timesheets ahead of an improving Michael Laverty on the second of the Tyco BMWs. James Westmoreland and Jason O'Halloran completed the top ten for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki and Honda Racing teams respectively.
