"Safest" TT Rider - Smudger's Lodger - 21-05-2015

For the stats guys out there...

Who's the rider who has completed the most TT race laps of the IoM Mountain circuit without an off?

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - BcakWeleher - 21-05-2015

JM130 ?

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - sticky - 21-05-2015

It's probably John.  Lougher had a big off at Union Mills in 2004 and another big one (Mountain Box?) earlier in his career.  Dave Magic-Mushroom famously got spat off in the first TTxGP practice session at Braddan when the thing he was riding locked up and almost put him in the tree on the road island!

Span i'm pretty sure Bud was off coming out of Brandish during practice for TT97

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - spannerman - 21-05-2015

Mick Chatterton

58

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - Alfie Noakes - 23-05-2015

I think Nick has parted company with his machine 3 times.

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - sticky - 24-05-2015

One of the Jacksons - can't remember if it was Bob or Bud had a get off at the 11th in the MGP a few years back.  Chris Petty binned at Keppel not too long ago.

I am sure that Tony Rutter only had one "off "" at the TT, and eight TT wins. and numerous podiums. No doubt somebody will correct me !

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - Geekay - 24-05-2015

If it was the longest span in years at the TT without an 'off' , I'm guessing it would maybe be a sidecar racer.

I think it was Bob who had the crash,  I was not aware that Bud Jackson crashed or Chris Petty had a recent crash and my wife and mate who both said Tony Rutter did not have a crash,  so for sure it could be Chatterton who has it as I am certain he never crashed.

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - Max Power - 24-05-2015

It certainly wasn't me anyway!

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - Cregwilly - 25-05-2015

Mick chatter ton 100% crashed on the mountain late 80s broke a good few bones

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - Splashdown - 25-05-2015

I think Mick Chat crashed at Joey's in 1997. I was in hospital with him!
And for your information I have crashed FIVE times round the Mountain circuit, not a record I'm proud of, but two were machine failures.
Moving on, did Charlie Williams ever crash there? In my mind he was one of the safest TT riders around.

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - eman1948 - 25-05-2015

And one of the best.

RE: "Safest" TT Rider - David Linsdell - 26-05-2015

Dad started (I think) 77 races around the island between 1981 and 2012 and never fell off. He did have some near misses though!
