The more manufacturers at the TT the better.

But can someone tell the Milwaukee boys 11 th isn't a good result for a rider like dean Harrison. Bring people that know what their doing next year smr.

The cross plane crank R1 has achieved very little on the roads since its inception, it doesn't Rev, and lacks outright top end, it has drive but little else, the control ECU has put it at an even greater disadvantage, it's not down to any particular team, it's just sadly not the tool for the job at the TT in anyone's or any teams hands.

If the factory were serious about winning TT's, they'd build a bike capable of doing so. Josh Brookes isn't doing too bad in BSB, last I saw, so -- it''s not a complete lemon. Catalunya GP on Sunday, and we'll see how the factory bikes fare. Building a TT winning bike takes an awful lot of doing, and takes more than 'cubic dollars' Wink

taking a bsb or wsbk to the tt dosnt work
the tt is a unique place the main problem stated with the yamaha was oil being pumped into the airbox at contined high speeds no bsb race has the amount of high speed sections the tt has so the problem will have never shown up i would think
also the bike has had very little development work and proberbly almost nothing for the pure road races
some good riders finished in the top 10 this year someone has to finish lower down when the action is as hot as it was at the front

Yamaha have embarrassed themselves badly and have failed to deliver a good competitive bike to two good TT riders, they should issue a public apology to both those riders for wasting their time.
Yamaha have been building bikes a long time so they should have done better.
Don`t they do a test bed anymore i.e. let it rev until it blows up ? Surely that would have told them that it was not capable of holding high revs for a long period?

wasnt aware it was a factory yamaha entry
i thought the bikes were built and entered by shaun muirs milwaukee team and martrain yamaha who do have factory help
the bikes are new and have obviously never been tested to the limits of the tt

High reving inline four engines seem to be the solution in the big bike class for the TT sadly.
Like the Aprillia, the Yamaha's sounded great, but both were nowhere near the top, which is probably why we dont see any Ducati's anymore.

If memory serves me correctly a Yamaha hasn't won either a Senior or Superbike race in the last 10 years! and only 2 Senior and 2 Superbike in the last 15 years.

From 2000 - 2015 inclusive:
Yamaha:   2 Senior  2 Superbike/F1 Total 4
Suzuki:     3 Senior  3 Superbike/F1 Total 6
Kawasaki: 0 Senior  0 Superbike/F1 Total 0
Honda:      8 Senior  9 Superbike/F1 Total 17
BMW:        1 Senior  1 Superbike/F1 Total 2

True, however this is really about the big bikes, and in those classes the Beemers did much, much better (still didn't win though).

Was it JM who last took the R1 to victory? I think it was.

Aye that was a proper R1 though, not one of these horrible sounding ones of recent years.

I think Hutchy was the last man to put an R1 on the TT podium when he was riding for AIM.

On paper the new yamaha is the weapon of choice and they are obviously trying to win superbike races as they built a homologation special from the off. Neither Martrain or SMR thought they would have anything but a brilliant bike but it ain't as simple as just taking the lights off anymore, the information gained from the last fortnight will be invaluable and lessons learnt may not have shown up until next TT if they had sat this year out. I totally understood MDs decision, but full credit to Harrison for staying on board with the project and getting a 130 on the bike in the senior. You have to go racing to learn, testing is often not good enough and he who has never dropped a clanger has never made or built a thing let alone racing kit 😉

It all makes Josh Brookes 129.859 from last year more impressive. If he comes back, and is on a competitive bike he will be straight in contention for wins.

I don't think Josh would be automatically in contention for wins - he's still learning the course. Doing a 129mph lap is very impressive, however to win the big bike races you now need to be doing 132mph laps - that's a lot of time to shave off a lap in one go, especially when you're relatively new, and you've not raced the island for a couple of years.

Top 10, yes, wins no/not yet.
