TEAM MBR AND THE SELLS - Anonymous - 05-09-2003

Hi
This is the first time I have had chance to go online since returning from the Manx.
I was fortunate enough to be helping out the Sells family this year. I have to say it was one of the most pleasurable Manx's I think I had, we seemed to do nothing but laugh, well not quite nothing.
One lasting memory I will always have is that on the face of Dave 'replica winner' Sells (the dad) when the racing finished on Friday and they had ALL won replicas, it was priceless.
Rob did extremely well on his 600 following a week of torment in practice, I know what its like to have to pick your spirits up after a rubbish practice week and it aint easy , well done Rob (2 reps)!! Dave managed to get his first replica, (you'd think he'd won the lottery when he came off stage at the presentations)in what must have been a VERY emotionaly testing fortnight having both son and daughter out there on top of the stresses of riding himself!! And then theres Carolynn, what can I say, 4th in the newcomers and another replica in the Ultra Lightweight race, also taking the Leslie Anne trophy for best performance by a female competitor :-), she was a pleasure to work for, always laughing and listening to advice, WELL DONE CAROLYNN, mind you when she's drunk she snores like an Aermacchi going into Ramsey Hairpin!, and that was in the Casino!!!
Finally theres Chris (the mum) what must she have been going through god only knows but she seemed to take it very well.
A BIG WELL DONE to all of them, roll on next year!!
Russ

I've just put a posting on another site suggesting that Carolynn is about to have surgery to remove the ear-to-ear grin she has been wearing since the start of Practice Week ! Great performances by the Sells trio - for me, probably the highlight of this year's Manx.

They epitomise what the Manx is about, don't they? Can't wait to see them all back at the 2004 event.

I'll get you for that snoring comment Russ!! It was the end of a long, adrenalin-fueled (but ace!) 2 weeks and i needed a kip! But, Seriously though, you were a brilliant person to have around, i was pretty chilled, but you helped keep me calm and we did have a great laff!! A great friend made, me thinks!

I do have quite a few people to thank for their help over the M.G.P So, here goes...

Martin Bullock and the team, Russ (i suppose!), Paul 'Stealth' Collins and Mick Skene. Mum and Dad. Trikbitz Racing. Invader Exhaust. Steve and Maureen @The Raven, Ballaugh. Pete Trye (a true gent). Morris Brokers Ltd. Bowker BMW (preston). Hein Gericke (preston). Juan Quane. Classic Car Restoration LTD, Ballasalla. Black's Bikeshop. www.eddysphotos.com. Boo (that's a person, not tryin to scare anyone, though she might!!)
And Thanx also to all my friends, everyone I've met and everyone who has given me support and encouragement before and during the Manx.
I had the BEST time of my life!

Roll on next year.....
