Yes it was Malcolm Macdonald, he was born 30th Oct 1950 and passed beyond the veil on 14th June 2022.

Well done and thanks Alfie

I THINK it was Macdonald. Does that ring any bells?

Ah thanks Nick - yes it is, just had a look online and found this... https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/trolls-close-tt-website-discussion-forums/

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Alfie Noakes - 24-05-2023

Hi All, just been up to Greggs Memorials to enquire about a plaque, the guy is busy this week then away until the 16th June but might be able to get a mem stone done for the 17th but no guarantee and I return on the 18th.....I'm sure I can at worst get wheels in motion and fit the plaque at The Manx, I will also try another place i've found in Balthane / Ballasalla .. will let you know

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - taxman - 24-05-2023

Happy to chip in too.

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chris_Sav - 26-05-2023

Malcolm's nephew advises that Barregarrow was one of Malcolm's favourites for watching.

That's my favorite of all spots, barregarrow crossroads. I'm always there once at the TT and once at the manx

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - scaramanga - 28-05-2023

be nice to keep it simple
who he was dates and that he ran the forum even during ill health
if it requires donations aslong as someone sets a page up ill chip in along with others we should get enough for something decent
and maybe memorial flowers every year

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - H2pots - 28-05-2023

I'm more than happy to contribute. There's plenty of trees and posts to mount a plaque at barregarrow. Permission from the farmer will obviously be required.

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Alfie Noakes - 31-05-2023

Hi all, I should have a design image soon - Matthew Gregson at Manx Memorials has been very helpful, i'll post up the design when I get it - please let me know what you think......Initial text is Malcolm Macdonald. Proud founder of TTWebsite.com and lifelong TT/MGP Supporter 1950-2022 with a TTWebsite logo and a bike logo with No1 plate .... Matthew said he'd also give me a hand fitting the plaque. I'll try and get a recce in for location at B'row but if anybody else is passing on a lap please let me know your thoughts.... thanks Alfie...............weather is great innit.

In keeping with initiative I would be happy to contribute, the entries on the forum this week are appreciated by those of us who cannot be on the Island.

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chris_Sav - 31-05-2023

I'll take a look at Barregarrow in the morning

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chris_Sav - 01-06-2023

There's a fairly young tree by the entrance style. Talked to one of the team and he had no objection and would talk to his boss. He suggested the supports for the style.

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chrisp955 - 02-06-2023

Was there today Chris . Used the style s few times
I would say the tree you hold on to as you step over will be there a lot longer

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chris_Sav - 03-06-2023

Sorry I missed you Alfie at Laurel Bank, had to nip back to the ranch to get water bottle.
Suggestion from another marshal was to contact Manx Telecom about putting the plaque on the telegraph pole, that's what she did.

No probs Chris - that was my first time passing your station on open roads, I can't stop in the RC when roads are closed and with the heavy traffic from Grandstand to Ballacraine i've been using the back/side roads to get to my starting points......wheels are in motion though and we'll defo get the plaque sorted....don't know my starting point today yet but if i'm passing again i'll call in .... hopefully see you later...

Hi all, please let me know what you think of the design from Gregson ... Matthew from Gregson Memorials has been very helpful and was also was asking if anybody knows the font name that's on the website...cost is £100 for a 12" black granite plaque, i'm not worried about donations right now - just keen to get wheels and opinions in motions, I'm over til 18th and can fit at MGP if we don't get time at TT .... rgds Alfie

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chris_Sav - 07-06-2023

The design is brilliant.

Can it be attached to the tree or post?

I don't know if I can get on the site from my phone, will try to get Font

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Sam Pato - 07-06-2023

Excellent design - with it being granite will it be a problem getting it mounted in a way that it stays put?

Many thanks for keeping this rolling Alfie. 👍

Don't want to cloud the waters but just wondering if it should say 'in memory of' or similar?

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chrisp955 - 07-06-2023

Looks mint. I think the two dates take care of the in memory of.

RE: Plaque for Malcolm - Chris_Sav - 08-06-2023

I cannot get access to the site until I get home, so cannot advise the font.

I feel that this may be better held over to the Manx at this late stage.

I do have a spare account with online access that could be used to collect and publish donations for now, any excess could go to site maintenace.
