Camera Obscura - Douglas - Anonymous - 11-04-2005

I have noticed from various entries on the Internet that the Camera Obscura on Douglas Head is almost completely refurbished and that the protcetive shroud has been removed. Does anyone have any up to date news on if and when this fascination buildiing will be open to the public?
Mots of what I have seen refers to it being handed over to the tourist board to maintain soon.

Just sailed in past the refurbished Camera Obscura tonight. It looks really well finished, not sure if it is open to the public yet.

Re: Camera Obscura - Douglas - Anonymous - 12-04-2005

It's the 19th century equivalent of a web cam.

Re: Camera Obscura - Douglas - Anonymous - 13-04-2005

Thatsa very good comparison Billy! Like that.
The buidling itself has long been, for me, symbolic of arriving on the ferry in Douglas!
A landmark indeed.
Having said that, I have never been inside and would love the opportunity.

I love the one in Edinburgh, where the view is of the High Street and the Castle Esplanade...where the Tattoo is held. You can pick up cars and people on bits of paper! Just a big kid, really, aren't I?

I might grow out of going to the TT.
A risk I am not prepared to take!!
