Loan/hire of bike Mad Sunday - Greg - 19-10-2006

Hi, we are a couple in late 40's from New Zealand wanting to do a lap of the circuit on Mad Sunday 2007. We want to loan /hire a bike-size/ type not important- to realise a life long ambition. We are not into speed and all care and responsibility taken. Any ideas or offers -thanks

I have tried for 3 years to find someone on the Island to
hire a bike at ANY time, never mind silly sunday!!
I wish you luck.

Could it be an idea to try and hire in Manchester (or wherever you're landing in the UK)?
The only problem you might face then is the ferries, but it's still early days...

MV, With your impending retirement do you think anyone would lend you a bike with those reaction times?

But in response to the question, I think you will find it very tough to get bike hire and certainly loan of a bike on Mad Sunday.

You don't say whether you have been here before and seen the circuit, but I would suggest if you have not then doing a lap might not be a good idea, not always your own riding that can cause an accident if you know what I mean.

I would suggest however seeing is anyone would be able to take you for a lap on the back.

If this sounds like a good idea please feel free to PM me or email me at barrule@gmail.com with your details, Names, Dates on Island ect, where you are staying, I might be able to sort you out with a lap.

MV,

Sorry for my delay in replying, my reactions are not as quick as they once were Big Grin

I am only a 'Part Time' Taxi Driver and I have yet to race Barry Wood over the mountain in his Taxi

Anyway I was not offering a Lap in that Taxi, and no not the Sidecar either, even if I wanted to compete next year I can't now anyway and I can't qualify for the Holiday Racers Licsense :!:

Mad Sunday - Bill Snelling - 21-10-2006

Your best bet on Mad Sunday is to get a front row seat on the bank at the Gooseneck and watch the carnival go by!
All human (and other forms) of life will flash (literally) by - an old sievalve BSA with a plank, on the plank was a loo, on the loo was a fella with his kecks down waving to the audience. One guy wheelies out the corner, drops the front wheel on someone's seat and spills it. Lost count of the number of infaltable dolls in all sorts of positions. The Purple Helmets do at least one lap.

I knew I had seen a familiar face in a photo of the Purple Helmets!

I'm not the naked pianist - I can only play the fool, not music!

Greg,
It might be worth contacting Dave Milligan of
http://www.getrouted.com.au
He's a New Zealander, a good bloke, and should have some ideas.

It's quite probable that I will have a bike for hire for TT2007. (the full fortnight preferred)

ZZR1100 Kawasaki, fully serviced, taxed etc. (insurance to be arranged) . The bike is absolutely standard, with no after market bits. It will also be fully resprayed as well.

I can also supply bike luggage (soft) if required.

If anyone is interested please contact me through my email address or pm.
