Bill Lomas - Tom Loughridge - 15-08-2007

Just had a phone call from the elusive Welshman Elwyn Roberts.

He tells me Bill Lomas the ex works Moto Guzzi V8 , MV Agusta, AJS and Velocette rider has sadly passed away.

One of the greats of the past.

If this is true, it's very sad, and I offer my condolences to his family. Always a special place for Bill, as he was a true motorcyclist, not just a professional rider. Brilliant trials rider, (the Jefferies family will always rate a trials rider), excellent development rider, and a sound engineer. Can't believe that it was only two years ago we were with him at the 2005 TT Lap of Honour dinner. He and Cecil Sandford were on great form that night. So very very sad, and as Tom said, one of the greats of the past.

My sentiments too Nick.I know Bill was knocking on a bit in years but he was the type you expected to last forever.
RIP Bill

Another famous name.....I agree, he was the type who should have gone on forever.

A Great Shame
