No charge for practice and qualifying sessions

Tickets for the TT Grandstand seats for the 2009 TT Races go on sale on Wednesday the 8th of April at the Island’s Welcome Centre, which is part of the Sea Terminal complex, and they are expected to be snapped up by fans eager to get closer to the action.

The seats give an excellent view of the pit lane action and start /finish line and fans have an unrivalled view of the iconic scoreboard, kept up to date by the minute by the local scout group, as well as a live tannoy commentary service from official event station Manx Radio TT. Fans can also wander round the paddock and see the machines being worked on by the team mechanics.

The seats cost £25 for the main Senior and Superbike Race days, which also feature the world’s first zero carbon motorsport event, the TTXGP, and the first Sure Sidecar Race respectively. The other race days, the first Relentless Supersport and Royal London 360 Superstock Race on Monday 8th June and the second Relentless Supersport and second Sure Sidecar race on Wednesday 10th June are available at a reduced price for 2009 of £20 per day.

The first, un-timed, practice session on Saturday 30th May and all of the remaining qualifying sessions the following week will all be free to members of the public apart from the final qualifying session on Friday 5th June, where there will a nominal £5 charge to cover the cost of stewarding.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Welcome Centre or by calling the ticket hotline on 01624 694555, between the hours of 10am to 6pm.

Any remaining tickets will be on sale from the ticket kiosk at the bottom of the TT Grandstand Tower on Race days only.

Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, commented;

“We’ve kept the prices for the Senior and Superbike at the same rate as last year, and actually reduced the ticket price for the other two race days, as we appreciate that people are feeling the pinch in the current economic climate and wish to encourage attendance. We believe that the prices represent real value for money for a full day’s sporting entertainment. We’ve also made access to the Grandstand during practice and qualifying free of charge to attend, as we want to encourage people to bring their families down to watch.”
