Injury update: Simon Andrews
Simon Andrews remains in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment following his accident at Snetterton on Sunday, when he and Steve Brogan crashed at high speed unavoidably when they were behind Alex Lowes who suffered an engine failure which deposited oil onto the circuit.

Following immediate intervention and treatment by the BSB medical team, both riders were taken to the circuit medical centre and whilst Brogan was diagnosed with a shoulder injury and released, Andrews was hospitalised with a more serious leg fracture.

Overnight Simon underwent an operation to clean out the area injured and to place an external frame on to stabilise the lower leg fractures.

At lunchtime yesterday Simon's father Stuart provided an update on Simons condition.

The next step is for reconstructive surgery later this week to replace approximately four inches of missing shin bone with bone from his hip followed by plastic surgery to cover up the wound.

The surgeons are confident of a full recovery and have already put fixator pins on the bone so a cage can be attached as soon as the operation is done. There are no major problems with circulation, Simon has feeling and movement to his toes.
