THE Splitlath Redmond team will line up at Silverstone this weekend when riders John Laverty and Florian Marino take part in the inaugural Silverstone 200 event.

New to the 2012 British MotoGP, the Silverstone 200 features two World Championship length 100km races around the famous 3.6mile Grand Prix circuit.

The weekend will kick-off with Free Practice on Friday afternoon, followed by Qualifying Practice on Saturday.

The races will be held on Saturday and Sunday shortly after the MotoGP stars have taken to the track for the headline event.

Team co-owner John Dimbylow believes the Silverstone 200 event is an ideal choice for the Splitlath Redmond squad.

“Where we at the moment, any track time we can get is important to us as we continue with the development of our Aprilia RSV4 machines.

“The Silverstone 200 will give us the chance for lots of miles and get lots of data, and will be very useful to the riders. Florian will benefit from the track time as he learns more and more about the bike, and for John it will be useful as he continues to build his fitness.

“On top of all that, this event is another opportunity for Splitlath Redmond to try something else. We are constantly seeking more, and having just completed two good weeks at the Isle of Man TT, we’re keen to explore as many new options as we can as the team continues to grow.”
